My trip to Kampot on 10 December 2007
Kampot province is a certain dream land resort for tourists to get true feeling of Cambodia, which is located just 148 km from Phnom Penh, along the national road 3. Kompot has some special point to make it become an interesting resort. First of all, this province is famous for seafood and fresh fruit. For example, durian, milk-fruit, lancet, golden plum. Khmer fruit are not chemically treated. Even though the outer skin may not look pretty, the inside of the fruit remains naturally sweet and tasty. Next, the important place is waterfall, Toeuk Chhou. On the arrival, we are greeted by many stalls by the road selling all sorts of food stuff and fruits. The water in this rocky stream is crystal clear and cold. The other one is Bokor Mountain resort. It is well known in Cambodia. This resort was found in 1920s and famous since 1960s. It is used to be the Khmer Rouge stronghold during the civil war in Cambodia. Nowadays, the ruins of former casino, villa, hotel and church are still remains as resort for visitors, and they can enjoy the fresh air on the top of that mountain. The last one is island. There are several island in Kampot that we spent time around 30mn to reach there, they are so beautiful and fresh air. In short, all of these are the special point that makes Kamport an interesting resort.

Wow! It is very nice to see someone write about my hometown for a change. As a Cambodian, I feel very proud of my own province, even if it has remained a sleepy coastal province for all these years. But that’s going to change, especially when Kep and Bokor become developed into resorts and tourist attractions.
Also, I am very happy to see you had taken a picture of the SPIEN YOLD at Teuk Chhou. My durian farm is only three kilometers from there. When I was a schoolboy I used to sneaked out to have fun over there with my friends regularly. No wonder I never made good grades, hehe.
I sound to love your hometown so much. Actually, I have been to Kampot for many time. I have intention to visit Bokor again, but I could not yet because of the way to reach there is not convenient. I wish it is developed soon.
